Ishaemic heart disease (IHD) is the most common form of heart
disease and the important cause of premature death in most country. There are
insufficient population based data on IHD but tertiary level hospital data
indicate that it has become the third killer disease in the most over populated
country.
Clinical
manifestations &pathology of Ischaemic heart disease
- · Stable angina- Angina pectoris is the symptom complex caused by transient myocardial ischemia due to fixed atheromatous stenosis of one or more coronary arteries .It may occur whenever there is imbalance between myocardial oxygen supply and demand.
- · Unstable angina-Is a clinical syndrome that is characterized by new-onset or rapidly worsening angina, angina on minimal exertion or angina at rest .Ischemia caused by dynamic obstruction of a coronary artery due to plaque rupture with superimposed thrombosis and spasm.
- · Heart Failure-Myocardial dysfunction due to infarction or ischemia.
- · Arrhythmia-Altered conduction due to infarction.
- · Sudden death-Ventricular arrhythmia, asystole or massive myocardial infarction.More details
